STATEMENT OF FAITH
I. There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 2:5; James 2:19; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1; 20:28; Acts 5:3-4)
II. Jesus Christ is the true God (1 John 5:20; Philippians 2:6) and true man (Philippians 2:7-8; John 1:14). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18) and born of the virgin Mary (Matthew 1:25). He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust (Romans 4:25), as a substitutionary sacrifice (Isaiah 53:4; Romans 3:25-26; 1 Peter 3:18), and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood (Isaiah 53:5). He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15). He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest (Hebrews 1:3; Mark 16:19). He will come again to establish His kingdom of righteousness and peace (John 14:3).
III. The Holy Spirit is a divine person (Acts 5:4), sent to indwell (1 Corinthians 6:19), guide (Acts 13:2), teach (John 14:26), empower the believer (Acts 1:8), and to convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (John 16:8- 11).
IV. The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice (John 17:17; Hebrews 5:12-14).
V. Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26- 28); however, he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death (Genesis 2:17; Romans 6:23). All men are born with a sinful nature (Psalm 51:5), are separated from the life of God (Ephesians 2:12), and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). The prospect of the impenitent and unbelieving person is existence forever in conscious torment (Matthew 25:46), and that of the believer in Christ, is to have everlasting joy and bliss (Matthew 25:46; Psalm 16:11).
VI. Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men (1 John 2:2). Those who repent and believe in Him (Mark 1:15) are born again of the Holy Spirit (John 3; I Peter 1:23) receive the gift of eternal life (Mark 10:30; John 3:15; 10:28), and become the children of God (John 1:12; 1 John 3:1-2).
VII. It is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18) and be sanctified wholly (1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:23), being separated from sin and the world (Ephesians 2:2-3) and fully dedicated to the will of God (1 Thessalonians 4:3), thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service (Ephesians 3:16). The normal Christian life should be marked by a progressive growth in godliness.
VIII. We believe God heals, both in this age and the age to come. Prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are taught in the Scriptures and are privileges for the church in this present age. (James 5:14-16; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11; Matthew 8:16- 17)
IX. The Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41; 1 Corinthians 12:13), are redeemed through His blood (Revelation 5:9), and are born again of the Holy Spirit (John 3:5-8). Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church (Ephesians 5:23), which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the gospel to all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). The local church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, edification through the Word of God, prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the gospel, and observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper (Acts 2:42; Romans 6:4; 1 Corinthians 11:20-34).
X. There will be a bodily resurrection of the just and of the unjust (1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Daniel 12:2; John 5:28-29; Acts 24:14-15); for the former, a resurrection unto life known as the Judgment Seat of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:10- 15; 2 Corinthians 5:10); for the latter, a resurrection unto judgment, known as the Great White Throne Judgment (2 Thessalonians 1:9).
XI. The second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is imminent (Romans 8:19-25; 1 Corinthians 1:7; Philippians 4:5; Jude 21) and will be personal (John 14:3), and visible (1 John 3:2). This is the believer's hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service (Titus 2:11–13).
XII. God has ordained that the local church be led by a plurality of godly, qualified men called elders or pastors or overseers (Titus 1; 1 Timothy 3). This leadership is expressed through the spiritual shepherding and oversight of the entire congregation (Acts 20:28-31). The role of elder/pastor/overseer is reserved for qualified men only, in keeping with clear Biblical teaching. The church both values and relies on the contributions of women who serve according to their gifting and roles. This expression upholds equality in value while maintaining uniqueness in roles.
XIII. A Christian understanding of gender and sexuality is grounded in the Word of God. At creation, God created man and woman in His image (Genesis 2:18- 25). We affirm that God establishes gender in correlation with biological sex. Therefore, any attempt to alter one’s gender identity is at odds with God’s will and a distortion of His image. Scripture tells us that the only acceptable form of sexual relations is in the context of one man and one woman within the covenant of marriage (1 Corinthians 6:18). We therefore reject all sexual activity outside of this context, whether heterosexual or homosexual (Hebrews 13:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8).
